Hours Per Week Self-Employed Physicians Spend on Paperwork & Administration: 7 Statistics

Most self-employed physicians spend five to nine hours per week on paperwork and administration, according to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2014.

When asked how long they spend on administration and paperwork, self-employed respondents reported the following:

 

•    0 hours — 14 percent
•    1 to 4 hours — 29 percent
•    5 to 9 hours — 31 percent
•    10 to 14 hours — 12 percent
•    15 to 19 hours — 7 percent
•    20 to 24 hours — 6 percent
•    25 hours or more — 1 percent

 

The report includes responses from more than 24,000 physicians in 25 specialties.
