Orthopaedic Research Society Names Hospital for Special Surgery’s Dr. Mary Goldring President

Hospital for Special Surgery Senior Scientist Mary B. Goldring, PhD, was named president of the Orthopaedic Research Society at the annual meeting this past week.

Dr. Goldring is also co-director of the Tissue Engineering Regeneration and Repair Program in the Research Division at HSS. She is credited with developing models for the study of human cartilage cell biology and her research has identified molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cartilage loss and changes involved in the osteoarthritis and inflammatory joint disorders.

 

During her career, Dr. Goldring served as co-editor of the journal Arthritis & Rheumatism and associate editor of the Journal of Cellular Physiology, Arthritis Research and Therapy as well as the Journal of Orthopedic Research. She has served on the board of directors of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International and chair of the Arthritis Foundation Molecular Biology and Genetics Study Section.
