The researchers examined 490 patients who underwent lumbar spinal fusion for three or fewer segments and found 23 patients underwent additional surgery for ASD. PLIF had 2.4 times higher incidence of ASD requiring surgery than PLF. Patients older than 60 were also more likely to undergo revision procedures than younger patients.
