The Impact of EHRs on Patient Care Quality: 3 Statistics

Most physicians believe that electronic health record systems have worsened the quality of patient care, according to a national survey commissioned by Medical Economics and administered by MPI Group.

The survey includes responses from nearly 1,000 physicians.

 

When asked how their EHRs have affected the quality of patient care, respondents reported the following:

 

•    Somewhat or significantly improved — 35 percent
•    No change — 20 percent
•    Somewhat or significantly worsened — 45 percent
