Mr. DelBene will serve as Ms. Sebelius’ senior adviser and will provide management expertise, operations oversight and advice on additional enrollment channels, field operations, marketing and communications, according to HHS.
“Kurt has proven expertise in heading large, complex technology teams and in product development,” Ms. Sebelius wrote. “He will be a tremendous asset in our work.”
Jeff Zients, a former White House budget director, was tapped by HHS earlier this year to take on a leadership role in efforts to repair the federal health insurance exchange website, which experienced numerous technical issues following its launch. He is leaving HHS to serve as director of the National Economic Council, according to a report from The Hill.
