Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Thomas Haider of Haider Spine Center

Thomas T. Haider, MD, is the founder of Haider Spine Center and chief of the spine division at Riverside (Calif.) County Regional Medical Center. He is also on the clinical faculty at the University of California, Riverside. He is the chairman of the biomedical advisory board of UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program in Biomedical Sciences. He and his wife are co-founders of the Children’s Spine Foundation — a charity that aims at securing early intervention and treatment of spinal disorders for underprivileged children.

Dr. Haider has developed and patented surgical instrumentation for spinal surgery use, including the Haider/UCR Pedicle Instrumentation. He has received a number of awards during his career, such as the Chancellor’s Medal of Honor in 1997 and the national AMA Pride in the Profession Award in 2001. He is also a past member of the Medical Board of California.

 

Dr. Haider is board-certified and his clinical interests include degenerative spine, spinal deformity, trauma, tumors and infections.

 

Dr. Haider earned his medical degree at Loyola University in Chicago. He has also completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, where he also completed a fellowship in spine surgery.
