“The ultimate goal for spine surgeons should be to perform the majority of elective cases as outpatient procedures in ambulatory surgery centers like our sports medicine colleagues,” said Dr. Grimm in a Becker’s Spine Review article. “As surgeons continue to embrace minimally invasive techniques that decrease tissue damage and blood loss, especially in the lumbar spine, this is becoming a reality.”
Dr. Grimm earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He has also completed a fellowship with OrthoCarolina Spine Surgery in Charlotte, N.C.
