Five steps to include are:

 

1. Get coders into a course in anatomy and physiology.
2. Buy an ICD-10 book and code the 50 most common codes in your practice.
3. Send your coders offsite for a two-day intensive training program and have them test for certification.
4. Develop a training timeline for clinical staff.
5. Read the general guidelines for coding ICD-10.
