Half of Single Young Adults Will Get PPACA Coverage for $50 or Less Per Month

HHS has announced 46 percent of single young adults who are currently uninsured may be eligible for health insurance through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act marketplaces for $50 or less per month.

Based on an analysis of data in 34 federally facilitated and federal-state partnership marketplaces, the agency has found 2.9 million single young adults aged 18 to 34 in those states may be eligible for coverage under the healthcare reform law. Of those people, 1.3 million could purchase a bronze-level plan with a monthly premium of $50 or less through the exchanges, and 1.9 million or 66 percent of single young adults could pay $100 or less.
