Multispecialty Group Physician CEO Compensation Up to $425k, Down for Single Specialty Groups

According to a new report from Cejka Executive Search and the American College of Physician Executives, physician CEOs of multispecialty groups have seen their compensation increase while single specialty group physician CEOs have seen a decrease.

The average compensation for physician CEOs of multispecialty groups in 2013 was $425,000, up from $414,500 in 2011. This is a 3 percent increase. However, physician CEOs of single specialty groups saw an 8 percent decrease in compensation from $355,000 in 2011 to $325,000 in 2013.

 

Among all physician presidents and CEOs, the average compensation grew 4 percent to $410,000 this year. Physician CEOs of health systems saw a 9 percent decrease to $430,000 in 2013, which was still top among reporting groups. Physician CEOs of hospitals reported average compensation of $412,500 this year.
