The researchers examined 37,381 total knee arthroplasties, reported through the Norwegian Arthroplasty Register.
Hospitals with an annual volume of one to 24 procedures:
• 92.5 percent prosthetic survival at 10 years
Hospitals with an annual volume of 150 or more procedures:
• 95.5 percent prosthetic survival at 10 years
The researchers found that the risk of revision surgery was significantly higher at low- volume hospitals in comparison to high-volume hospitals.
