Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. William Mitchell of New Jersey Neurosciences Institute at JFK Medical Center

William Mitchell, MD is an attending neurosurgeon at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J., and serves as section development chair on the board of directors of the North American Spine Society. He has previously served as the program chair for the NASS Annual Meeting and as the Health Policy Council co-chair. He also currently serves as associate professor of neurosurgery at Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education in South Orange, N.J.

Dr. Mitchell is a member of American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves. He is board certified in neurosurgery and in addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mitchell participates in research and has authored multiple articles for professional publications. He focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery.

 

Dr. Mitchell earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California Keck
School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He completed an internship in general surgery along with a residency in neurological surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He has also completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
