Dr. O’Malley performed the procedure to address a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of the player’s right foot.
Dr. O’Malley is the fellowship director of the foot and ankle service at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
The player is expected to need eight to 10 weeks to recover.
