Dr. Cohen is board certified in spine surgery, and he focuses on minimally invasive and endoscopic laser spine surgery. His clinical interests include degenerative disc disease, disc bulging and herniations, facet joint syndrome, lumbar radiculopathy, spinal fractures, spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis.
“You don’t have to be in academia to conduct research today,” said Dr. Cohen in a Becker’s Spine Review article. “I’m in private practice and I collect patient outcomes data with new devices and provide that information to registries that act as a database of documented information contributing to evidence-based medicine. These studies show hospitals and payers that new technology or techniques have merit and patients do better after treatment; therefore, the technology should be reimbursed.”
Dr. Cohen earned his medical degree at Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He has also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Hospital For Special Surgery in New York.
