The report includes responses from 613 physicians, of which 146 were primary care physicians, 142 were surgical specialists, 197 were non-surgical specialists and 128 were classified as “other.”
According to the report:
• Fifty-seven percent of physicians working in an ACO believe that capitation will replace fee-for-service payments in the next one to three years whereas 44 percent of physicians not in an ACO who believe the same.
• Seventy-seven percent of ACO physicians are concerned about being penalized for factors out of their control under a bundled payment structure versus 88 percent of non-ACO physicians who believe the same.
• Twenty-two percent of ACO physicians believe that Medicaid reimbursements will increase to match Medicare rates for primary care services in the next one to three years versus 12 percent of non-ACO physicians who believe the same.
