DoD Grants UCSD, Vital Imaging 2nd Grant to Study Effect of Equipment on US Military Personnel Spines

The Department of Defense has awarded the University of California, San Diego and Vital Imaging a second grant to continue a research project examining how body armor and assault packs carried by the U.S. Marines affect the spine.

The project was launched in 2011 as a collaboration between UCSD, Vital Imaging and the Navy Health Research Center.

Findings from the study will be the basis for new equipment designed to lessen the impact on the spine.

Vital Images is a medical diagnostics company with several locations throughout California.
