Jacksonville State University Ends Team Physician Contract With Andrews Sports Medicine for Lemak Sports Medicine

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Jacksonville (Ala.) State University, which has previously contracted for team physician services with Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedics based in Birmingham, Ala., has entered into a new five-year contract with Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, according to an Anniston Star report.

Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, also located in Birmingham, partnered with Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in the past, but now Lemak has offered a better contract to the university. The university will receive $63,500 from the new contract, which is considerably more than the existing contract, which offers up to $34,500, according to the report.

Under the new contract, Lemak will provide an orthopedic surgeon at every football game during the season and athletes will be able to visit other medical providers if they choose. The new contract also allows the university to terminate the agreement without cause with 60 days notice, which is half the days required in the previous contract, according to the report.
