Dr. Robert Anderson one of seven physicians to see Yankees' Greg Bird — 4 insights

Concord, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina's Foot and Ankle Institute surgeon Robert Anderson, MD, was one of seven physicians to examine New York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird, MLB.com reports.

Here's what you should know:

 

1. Mr. Bird has been injured since March 30. He was initially diagnosed with a bone bruise, which has since healed. He still has a mysterious, lingering pain in his right ankle. Physicians have been unable to figure out its cause.

 

2. The Yankees and Mr. Bird are considering exploratory surgery.

 

3. Dr. Anderson is a renowned foot and ankle expert. He is a founding member of the Foot and Ankle Institute.

 

4. Charlotte Magazine has named him one of its Top Doctor six times.
