Cerner and NeuroLogix Technologies collaboration improves concussion care — 5 details

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Cerner and NeuroLogix have teamed up to improve the system through which concussions are recognized, diagnosed and treated.

Here are five things to know:

1. The collaboration will improve concussion recognition and treatment and enable better athletic injury care.

2. The system enables physicians, athletic trainers and other medical personnel to assess neurological impacts of concussions.

3. Following various tests determining the extent of the injury, C3Logix compares data and helps determine the best treatment plan for the concussed individual.

4. C3Logix was developed at Cleveland Clinic and commercialized by NeuroLogix Technologies.

5. The system is expected to improve safety conditions for high school, collegiate and professional athletes.

Jay Alberts, PhD, of Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute said, "Integrating data into a single athlete record will keep care teams from fumbling through multiple systems, duplicating data entry or worrying about the risk of missing information."
