Orthopedic Sports Medicine

When the New England Patriots faced the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 4, 2016, Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady had a friend on the Rams' sideline in Neal ElAttrache, MD, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. Dr. ElAttrache is the team physician for the Rams, but he has also been the personal physician for Mr. Brady after he reconstructed the quarterback's knee in 2008.

2. Dr. ElAttrache and Mr. Brady met 15 years ago while playing golf at Pebble Beach in Florida.

3. Whenever Mr. Brady is injured, Dr. ElAttrache is always called for a consult. Mr. Brady considers him a close and personal friend. He told the Times, "At a pretty critical moment in my career, he was someone who was right there by my side. I'm forever grateful to him and his commitment to me, and we're lifelong friends because of that."

Dr. ElAttrache said he'd "never root for another person against Tom Brady."
