Dr. Luga Podesta named a 'Leading Physician of the World' — 5 key notes

The International Association of HealthCare Professionals is naming Luga Podesta, MD, to its list titled "The Leading Physicians of the World."

Here's what you need to know.

 

1. Dr. Podesta is an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in sports medicine.


2. He works out of the Podesta Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and has affiliations with several other centers. He also maintains an active practice at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.


3. Dr. Podesta's career began after he earned his medical degree from the New York Medical College. He completed an internship at Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center before his residency at the now closed St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center, formerly in New York. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Inglewood, Calif.


4. Dr. Podesta is a renowned researcher and lecturer.


5. He has been the team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers for 16 seasons and works with many other professional sports teams.
