Greater Danbury Community Health Center expands hours, caseload doubles: 4 takeaways

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

The Greater Danbury (Conn.) Community Health Center expanded its hours six months ago, since that time it doubled its caseload, The Danbury News Times reports.

Here's what you need to know.

1. The change was possible after the clinic switched management companies. The Western Connecticut Health Network invested money into the clinic and saw immediate results. The clinic also started seeing children. It previously did not accept pediatric cases.

2. Vice President of Business Development with the network Debra Carragher said the decision to expand hours was made to provide quality care to patients despite cost.

3. Frederick Gray, MD, became the clinic's medical director after the transition.

4. After the hour increase, the clinic also saw appointment wait times decrease. Instead of the three to six months it previously was, the times are now down to approximately three weeks for an appointment.
