Dr. Dot Richardson to light torch at Wendy’s Field at Daylis Stadium opening ceremonies

Orthopedic surgeon Dot Richardson, MD, will light the torch during opening ceremonies at the Wendy's Field at Daylis Stadium in Billings, Mont., according to a Billings Gazette report.

Dr. Richardson is a former Olympian; she hit the game-winning home run in the 1996 Olympic Gold medal softball game against China. It was the first softball homerun in Olympic history.

 

Her career as a softball player includes three world championships and five Pan American Game gold medals. She is a five-time All-American and competed on the U.S. National Team while working toward her medical degree and through her residency in orthopedic surgery.

 

Dr. Richardson is currently the medical director for the USA National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
