FDA approves EYE-SYNC concussion device — 5 highlights

The FDA has approved Boston-based SyncThink's concussion device EYE-SYNC, according to MedCity News.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. EYE-SYNC is an eye-tracking device that uses infrared cameras to determine within 60 seconds if someone has endured a concussion.

 

2. SyncThink collaborated with the New York-based Brain Trauma Foundation in developing the device.

 

3. Scott Anderson, director of athletic training for Stanford (Calif.) University Sports Medicine, said Stanford Sports Medicine is testing EYE-SYNC as an investigational device to screen athletes for concussions and to help decide if it is safe for them to return to play.

 

4. SyncThink claims that more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles demonstrate the effectiveness of the device.

 

5. SyncThink is a medical company in the field of eye-tracking technology.
