Dr. Peter Millett performs shoulder surgery on 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick: 5 key notes

Peter Millett, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., will perform shoulder surgery on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, according to a Fox Sports report.

Here are five key notes:

 

1. Mr. Kaepernick has a torn labrum in his non-throwing arm.

 

2. Dr. Millett performed the season-ending surgery today in Colorado.

 

3. Mr. Kaepernick is expected to spend the next four to six months recovering from the procedure.

 

4. Dr. Millett is on the scientific advisory board for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute and previously had a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School.

 

5. He is affiliated with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association and served as team physician for the U.S. Ski Team and consultant to the Montreal Canadiens.
