Children's Mercy Kansas City, Sporting Kansas City partner on pediatric sports medicine initiative — 5 notes

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

To provide specialized sports medicine to young athletes in the Kansas City area, Children's Mercy Kansas City and Sporting Kansas City formed a long-term partnership, according to MLS.

Here are five notes:

 

1. The partnership will last 10 years.

 

2. To improve access to pediatric sports medicine, Children's Mercy is opening a Children's Mercy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center at the National Training Center in Kansas City in spring 2016.

 

3. The partnership aims to strengthen the community by developing and promoting Sporting Moves, an outreach program that educates elementary kids about the importance of physical activity.

 

4. Additionally, the partnership will enhance Sporting Kansas City's Victory Project, which helps children, particularly those with cancer, get the necessary support and resources they need.

 

5. Children's Mercy Kansas City and Sporting Kansas City will create a soccer-specific curriculum for the Sporting Club Network, which is comprised of nearly 200,000 players, parents, sports, coaches, managers and administrators.
