Dr. William Schobert repairs volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings' dislocated shoulder — 5 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon William Schobert, MD, successfully repaired Kerri Walsh Jennings' dislocated right shoulder.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Schobert performed the procedure at the Specialty Surgery Center in Irvine, Calif. on Thurs., Sept. 10.

 

2. He has more than 20 years of experience treating knee and shoulder sports-related injuries.

 

3. Dr. Schobert earned his medical degree from the University of California in 1978. He went on to complete his residency at the UC Irvine Medical Center in California.

 

4. Dr. Schobert will oversee Ms. Walsh Jennings' through her recovery which entails a specialized rehabilitation program that Dr. Schobert designed.

 

5. Ms. Walsh Jennings hopes to be fully recovered by the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
