Here are seven orthopedic surgeons making headlines over the past week.

Zachary Blakeman, DPM, joined Farmington, Maine-based Franklin Health Orthopaedics and Franklin Memorial Hospital.

 

Robert L. Patz, MD, was named president of the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association, according to an AAOS Now report.

 

Daniel Ivankovich, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Chicago, was named a 2015 CNN Hero.

 

Robert Olivieri, MD, is using a new laser therapy treatment to help patients increase shoulder strength, improve motion and stop shoulder pain, according to the Cape May County Herald.

 

James York, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., is using patient's stem cells to repair damaged tissues in their knees, according to the Baltimore Sun.

 

Brian Adams, MD, an orthopedic surgeon formerly providing care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, is under fire after an investigation by the state revealed that Dr. Adams allegedly diverted funds from the hospital to his personal bank account, according to a report by The Gazette.

 

Jim Scott, MD, of Georgia Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic in Tifton, Ga., has been traveling to Guatemala and El Salvador on philanthropy endeavors, reports the The Tifton Gazette.
