Washington Nationals' Jayson Werth happy to begin rehabbing: 6 things to know

Washington Nationals left fielder Jayson Werth has returned to play following a left wrist fracture on May 15, according to the Washington Post.

Here are six things to know:

 

1. Mr. Werth began a minor league rehab assignment yesterday.

 

2. His return to play is expected to be a gradual build-up to returning to major league play.

 

3. Mr. Werth told the Washington Post that it felt good to return, but needs to build back strength and find his batting rhythm.

 

4. Mr. Werth began the 2015 season on the disabled list following right shoulder surgery.

 

5. He suffered two small fractures on the left wrist.He experimented with wearing a modified wriest guard with special impact gel.

 

6. The Nationals trainer even smashed the wrist guard on a table at one point, to demonstrate the durability to Mr. Werth, according to the report.
