Orthopedic Sports Medicine

James Andrews, MD, is a busy man this week.

After appearing in the DHealthcare Daily discussing his partnership with Children's Health System of Texas and then performing surgery on Royals pitcher Tim Collins, he consulted with Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish suffering an arm injury, who opted for surgery.

Dr. Andrews will perform the procedure, according to The Washington Post.

Mr. Darvish will undergo Tommy John surgery to correct a partial tear in the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Dr. Andrews is expected to perform the procedure on Tuesday next week. The procedure is scheduled in Florida, where Dr. Andrews' practice is based.

The surgery will put Mr. Darvish on the disabled list for the rest of the season.
