When a new indoor facility opened this week for the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team, physician Jeff Laubenthal, MD, was honored as a part of the ceremony, reports Roll Bama Roll.
During his moving speech, Dr. Laubenthal, head of the college's Baseball Steering Committee as well as the team's physician, said that "next to marrying my wife and our two daughters being born, being a member of the Alabama Baseball Team is the thing I am most proud of."
Dr. Laubenthal was bestowed the honor of taking the first swing in the new facility, which will be under construction for the next year, officials estimated.
True to form, the physician hit a line shot.
The new facility is part of a $42 million renovation to Sewell-Thomas Field.
