Dr. Robert Anderson's surgery on Ravens' Jimmy Smith a success

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Robert Anderson, MD, Carolina Panthers' team doctor and foot and ankle specialist, performed surgery on Baltimore Raven's cornerback Jimmy Smith back in November and now, Mr. Smith is on pace to start back next season, reports the Baltimore Sun.

During a press conference this week, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that Mr. Smith was expected to be back for the 2015-2016 season, after undergoing Lisfranc foot surgery in the fall.

Dr. Anderson attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Carolinas Medical Center. He is past president of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society as well as founding member of the Foot and Ankle Institute at OrthoCarolina.

Mr. Smith was arguably the Raven's best cornerback before suffering the season-ending injury against the Cincinnati Bengals days before the surgery, allowing the wide receivers under his coverage only 20 completions and no touchdowns through half the season.
