Dr. Joseph S. Wilkes named to Clayton State Hall of Fame

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Officials with Clayton State University (Ga.) recently inducted their team physician, Joseph S. Wilkes, MD, to the second class of their sports hall of fame, says The Citizen.

Dr. Wilkes, an orthopedic surgeon, has served as the program’s team physician since it began in 1990.

Wilkes is a specialist in sports medicine, hand surgery, arthroscopy and joint replacement. School officials credit Dr. Wilkes as one of only two current individuals to be associated with the department since its very beginning.

Along with his duties at Clayton State, Dr. Wilkes has been \ a special event physician at major sporting events, such as the Chick-fil-A Bowl. He also served as coordinator of venue medical director for the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.
