After Ohio State's win, doctor-son duo are both national champions

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

When the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Oregon Ducks, 42 to 20, on Monday night, a family story was realized: a current player and his dad, now a physician, both have earned National Champion titles.

Buckeyes junior linebacker Joe Burger connected with his father, Robert Burger, MD, with the honor, reports Cincinnati.com.

Dr. Burger currently serves as head team physician at Xavier University. He was a member of the 1977 Notre Dame team, where he was included as a first-team academic All-American.

Dr. Barger received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1985 and completed his residency at the college's department of orthopedic surgery.
