Dr. David Altchek performs successful surgery on Bucks rookie Jabari Parker

David Altchek, MD, performed a successful ACL surgery on Milwaukee Bucks rookie forward Jabari Parker on Monday, Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.

Dr. Altchek was assisted in the surgery by Bucks' orthopedic physician Michael Gordon, MD, at the New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery.

 

Dr. Altchek also serves in the capacity of a medical director for the New York Mets and a consultant for the NBA at large. He has previously served as a medical director for the Association of Tennis Professions. Dr. Altcheck, a professor of Surgery in Clinical Orthopedics at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, has authored more than 100 articles on issues regarding the shoulder, elbow and knee.

 

Mr. Parker, the second pick in last year's NBA draft, tore his left ACL at a game versus the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 15. He is expected to miss the rest of the season and no official timeline on his return has been released from the team.
