Here are three of the top American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ initiatives for 2013.
1. Early revision of the clinical practice guidelines for osteoarthristis. “We cannot recommend using hyaluronic acid for patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee.”
2. Participation the “Choosing Wisely” campaign.
3. Collaboration with the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in the building of a new Orthopaedic Learning Center.
