Josh Blomgren, MD, a primary care sports medicine specialist with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, was recently named medical director of the Chicago 20-Miler, according to a Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush news release.
The 20-Miler training run allows marathon runners to complete the run the day before the marathon with the amenities provided by the marathon on race day. These amenities include aid stations, volunteers and post-run food.
Dr. Blomgren recently spoke with Chicago Athlete Magazine to give runners a mile-by-mile breakdown of what to expect from their body during the marathon.
