James Andrews, MD, performed ulnar collateral ligament repair on Oakland Athletics pitcher Brett Anderson after platelet-rich plasma injections failed to relieve his pain.

Hospital for Special Surgery physicians David Dines, MD, and Joshua Dines, MD, performed arthroscopic elbow surgery on elite tennis player Sam Querry, with the goal of recovering in time to compete in the US Open.

New York Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez underwent arthroscopic knee surgery performed by Lee Kaplan, MD, a Florida-based orthopedic surgeon, after an MRI showed a slight meniscal tear in Mr. Rodriguez's knee.

After performing an MRI on Kansas City Royals catcher Jason Kendall, Neal ElAttrache, MD, of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles determined Mr. Kendall needed further shoulder surgery. Dr. ElAttrache previously performed shoulder surgery on Mr. Kendall last season.

Dr. ElAttrache also recently performed a season-ending shoulder surgery Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jon Garland earlier this month.

Peter Mitchell, MD, performed ankle surgery on Arizona Diamondbacks' Stephen Drew after Mr. Drew injured himself sliding into home plate earlier this week.

Lauren Jackson, forward on the Seattle Storm women's professional basketball team, underwent hip surgery performed by Marc Philippon, MD, of The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., after injuring herself during a game in June.

Chicago White Sox catcher Ramon Castro received wrist surgery at Rush University Medical Center after he broke his wrist during a game earlier this month.

Patrick Kane, forward for the Chicago Blackhawks professional hockey team, underwent wrist surgery, according to Blackhawks team physician Michael Terry, MD.

Lewis Yocum, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, performed Tommy John surgery on Seattle Mariners pitcher David Aardsma, who has struggled with a forearm injury since May.
