Lee Kaplan, MD, a Florida-based orthopedic surgeon, performed arthroscopic knee surgery on Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, according to a Winnipeg Free Press report.
Dr. Kaplan performed an MRI on Mr. Rodriguez last week, which showed a slight meniscal tear. Given the option to play through the injury or undergo surgery, Mr. Rodriguez chose surgery. The procedure was performed at the University of Miami.
Mr. Rodriguez is expected to miss four to six weeks of play and may spend time rehabbing in the minor leagues.
