Dr. James Andrews Performs ACL Surgery on Terrell Owens

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

James Andrews, MD, performed surgery on professional football player Terrell Owens for a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which could end his career, according to an Ironton Tribune report.

There are conflicting stories about how Mr. Owens sustained the injury — either during an off-season workout or while taping his new reality show, "The T.O. Show." He previously suffered a torn meniscus last December.

Dr. Andrews reportedly performed the ACL surgery last month. Mr. Owens is currently a free agent who has been unable to sign with any team because of the NFL lockout. He may need up to six months of rehabilitation before returning to play.
