Atlanta Falcons Name Dr. Spero Karas Head Team Physician

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Spero Karas, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Atlanta, has been named the head team physician for the Atlanta Falcons, according to a practice news release.

Dr. Karas will oversee the orthopedic and medical care for the Falcons coaches and athletes. In addition to his responsibilities with the team, Dr. Karas serves as a team physician for Georgia Tech and Emory University, where he also serves as the director of the Emory Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.

Dr. Karas earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. His additional training includes a shoulder, knee and sports medicine fellowship at the former Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail.
