Beaumont Health System Receives $60k for Orthopedic Research

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Beaumont Health System announced that two orthopedic organizations have presented the health system with competitive research grants to study sports-related injuries and their treatment.

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine awarded the health system $40,000 to fund stem cell-based research that could help prevent osteoarthritis after sports injuries, such as a ruptured ACL.

Also, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society awarded $20,000 to study another stem cell-based technique that could improve patients' ability to heal from the rupture of an Achilles tendon.

Beaumont is leading the research, but is also collaborating with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
