Orthopedic Surgeons Receive $525k Average Compensation in 2012

According to the American Medical Group Association's 2013 compensation and financial survey, orthopedic surgeons received $525,000 average compensation last year.

Orthopedic surgeons were the third-highest compensated specialists and saw a 1.79 percent increase overall in compensation from 2011. Cardiology (cath lab) and cardiac/thoracic surgery were the two highest-compensated specialties, but only by a small margin.
