Here are five statistics on orthopedic surgeon areas of focus, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons 2012 Orthopedic Surgeon Census.

 

Of the orthopedic surgeons included in the census:
•    38 percent focus on arthroscopy
•    37 percent focus on adult knee surgery
•    36 percent focus on sports medicine
•    28 percent focus on adult hip surgery
•    17 percent focus on total joint surgery
