Here are 14 athletes who recently underwent orthopedic surgery and the surgeons who performed their procedures. New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery performed by David Altchek, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, to repair a labrum tear in his right shoulder.

OrthoCarolina physician Robert Anderson, MD, performed surgery on Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tarrell Suggs to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., performed ulnar collateral ligament repair on New York Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey, who will spend 12 months recovering from the procedure.

Hand surgeon Richard A. Berger, MD, of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., performed wrist surgery on Washington Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth to repair a displaced left distal radius fracture.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek underwent hip surgery performed by Thomas Byrd, MD, of Nashville (Tenn.) Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

Neal ElAttrache, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles performed knee surgery on Milwaukee Bucks player Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, who suffered from patellar tendonitis throughout this past season.

Richard Ferkel, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Van Nuys, Calif., performed ankle surgery on Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut.

San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval underwent hand surgery last week performed by Tim McAdams, MD, to remove a fractured hamate bone.

Pat McCulloch, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, performed arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Houston Astros pitcher Kyle Weiland.

Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler had arthroscopic hip surgery performed by Marc Philippon, MD, of The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., to repair a labral tear in his left hip.

Steven Shin, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, will perform wrist surgery on Los Angeles Angels catcher Chris Iannetta.

Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic surgeon Lewis Yocum, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Phoenix Suns forward Channing Fry, MD, who injured his shoulder during a game late in the season.

Dr. Yocum also performed ulnar collateral ligament repair surgery on Baltimore Orioles pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada, a procedure that takes at least a year for recovery.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Chris Narveson underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery performed by Dr. Yocum in Los Angeles.
