Craig Morgan, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, will perform rotator cuff surgery on Baltimore Orioles pitcher Matt Hobgood, according to a Sacramento Bee news report.
Mr. Hobgood experienced shoulder discomfort earlier this month, and Dr. Morgan recommended surgery. The procedure, which will size down Mr. Hobgood's rotator cuff so it fits better with the capsule, will be performed in early April. Mr. Hobgood will likely spend 12 months to 18 months recovering from the procedure and won't play for the rest of the season.
