Here are 13 orthopedic surgeons who recently performed surgery on professional athletes.
1. David Altchek, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, performed knee surgery on Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum during the All Star break.

2. James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., performed ACL reconstructive surgery on Carolina Panthers' Thomas Davis.

3. Dr. Andrews also performed shoulder surgery on professional baseball player Rich Harden, who sustained the injury while he playing with the Oakland Athletics.

4. Thomas Clanton, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., recently performed surgery on Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups to repair a tear in his Achilles tendon.

5. Surgeons at Hospital for Special Surgery recently performed ankle surgery on New Jersey Nets guard Keith Bogans.

6. Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mattias Ohlund recently underwent knee surgery performed by Anthony Miniaci, MD, at Cleveland Clinic.

7. Mark Myerson, MD, performed surgery on Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard to clear the infection site of his previous Achilles tendon repair.
