Wolters Kluwer unveiled eight online courses to assist organizations navigate The Joint Commission's Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Wolters Kluwer developed the courses with Joint Commission resources.

 

2. The Joint Commission introduced the advanced certification in 2016 to reflect the increasing number of patients receiving joint replacement surgery. The CDC reports surgeons perform more than 300,000 total hip and about 700,000 total knee arthroplasties annually.

 

3. By 2030, the total number of knee replacements will likely skyrocket to 3.48 million.

 

4. The Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement emphasizes care transitions from preoperation consultation to intraoperative admission to rehabilitation and follow-up visits.
