Karsten Ritter-Lang, MD, and Jan Spiller, MD, published their book, To Fuse or Not to Fuse: How Artificial Disc Replacement, Hybrid Fusion, and Fusion Alternatives are Changing the World of Spinal Fusion.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. Drs. Ritter-Lang and Spiller wrote the book with the intention of informing people living with chronic back and neck pain of the alternatives to spinal fusions.

 

2. In the book, Dr. Ritter-Lang writes about the success of artificial disc replacements, noting the application of the procedure for multiple levels as well as for lumbar and cervical procedures.

 

3. The two surgeons perform hundreds of disc replacement surgeries annually at Germany-based hospitals.
