SpineGuard to launch PediGuard Threaded for spinal surgery
SpineGuard plans to launch the next-generation PediGuard "Threaded" device next week. The Dynamic Surgical Guidance technology enables the PediGuard "Threaded" device, which is a drilling instrument with a threaded shaft design in various sizes. Surgeons can use the device to streamline surgical steps while maintaining accuracy in pedicle screw placement preparation.

74% of patients experienced fusion at 1-year follow-up in SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System study
Minnetonka, Minn.-based Zyga Technology reported 12-month fusion and clinical results for patients undergoing SImmetry Sacroiliac Joint Fusion with decortication. The study revealed 74 percent of patients experienced fusion at 12 months. These patients reported a 72 percent decrease in back pain. Zyga plans to see 24-month results in early 2017.

Johnson & Johnson, Texas Medical Center partner to speed up medical device development
Johnson & Johnson Innovation and Houston-based Texas Medical Center have partnered to create innovative medical devices. Researchers and developers with access to the Baylor College of Medicine the Houston Methodist Research Institute and the Texas Heart Institute's preclinical facilities will staff the Center for Device Innovation at the Texas Medical Center. The goal is to decrease the amount of time taken in the medical device cycle.

97% of healthcare attorneys project more involvement in cybersecurity going forward
Most healthcare attorneys see cybersecurity becoming a more prevalent issue in the healthcare space, a nationwide survey found. Ninety-seven percent of attorneys said they expect to be increasingly involved in cybersecurity matters over the next three years. While many reported they are prepared to respond to a data breach or cyberattack, 40 percent said their plans are too generic, lacking specific guidance for certain types of incidents.

Titan Spine launches nanoLOCK surface technology nationwide
Titan Spine expanded its commercial launch of the nanoLOCK surface technology throughout the nation. This full U.S. launch follows the company's alpha introduction of the technology in certain market areas. So far, Titan Spine has sold nanoLOCK implants in 14 hospitals in eight states.

Spinal implants, devices market to hit $19.5B by 2024; MIS driving growth
The global spinal implants market is slated to hit $19.54 billion by 2024, according to a Grand View Research report. The increasing number of spinal injuries, rising number of obesity cases and growing adoption of sedentary lifestyles will drive market growth. Key market players include Medtronic, Depuy Synthes, Stryker, NuVasive, Zimmer Biomet, Globus Medical, Orthofix International and LDR.
